A sip of masala chai with piping hot pakoras is the deadly combination in monsoon season. Monsoon has just hit Delhi and the best way to enjoy the season is to sit, relax and have a sip of masala tea with some desi snacks. Latest Recipe at The Le Meridien Gurgaon has done this for their consumers.
Unlike the English high tea at most of the five-star hotels, Latest recipe has come up with their own version of desi high tea with snacks which you would enjoy in monsoon. This will also remind you of your hostel days too. I loved the old style sandwich which used to be our favorite snack at college tapris which is where we would discuss everything – right from politics to studies.
The sandwich which I tasted at the Latest Recipe, where they are hosting monsoon mania promotion, during high tea till 31st, has the perfect balance of spice and tanginess and it goes really well with hot masala tea. The best part about the masala tea is that you can ask for your choice of condiments. On recommendation by Anadita, The Marcom lady, we had our tea with ginger, peppercorn, and saunf – It was a perfect tea!
Mathi, rusk and fan -are the best street food for tea. You will get them at every nook and corner of North India, wherever there is a tea stall. Unfortunately, Delhi doesn’t have that kind of tea culture, which I have been used to, at places like Allahabad and Lucknow.
The Bombay sandwich too had the perfect flavor with stuffing of aloo and spicy masala served with mint chutney. The chai is delicious and you can go for multiple servings and keep enjoying different snacks. You can finish with an Indian dessert that you would enjoy too, in the end.
Monsoon Magic at Le Meridien is the perfect way to relive the memories of your monsoon days (read as college/hostel days) and I strongly recommend you to try this. Irrespective of whether it reminds you of the days gone by, you will still enjoy snacking & tea in this season.
This special menu is on 31st of July. Enjoy the monsoon while it lasts at The Latest Recipe, Le Meridien!
