Before I share my experience at Kairali, you need to know about this place and how to reach: Kairali is in Pallakad, a small town in Kerala. The closest airport is Coimbatore and 90 minutes’ drive towards the beautiful countryside.
What to do there
It’s an ayurvedic rejuvenation center where you detox yourself and move towards a healthier being. A perfect balance of mind, body, and spirit. This place also offers various packages of internal cleansing, thus strengthening the immune system by removing toxins and rejuvenating the body.
It’s a 165 minutes flight from Delhi to Coimbatore and another 90 minutes’ drive towards the breath-taking view. Lush green surroundings and coconut trees make you unwind. The bus journey reminded me of my village that we visited every year during summers. There are places for you to stop and enjoy a fresh meal. We had parotta with
There are places for you to stop and enjoy a fresh meal. We had parotta with sambar, chutney, and chicken. It was drizzling and the trees appeared greener. The pleasant and unpolluted wind took away all the tiredness of the journey.
After we reached, we received a warm welcome and were offered fresh coconut water. We checked-in to our room, refreshed ourselves and got ready for dinner.
Kairali has small villas and it is surrounded by lush green and waterfalls. This quiet and scenic place is a pleasant getaway from all the stress that you carry. Each villa is assigned to the birth star which emanates immense energy and power. The toiletries are good and refreshing.
As it is the ayurverdic center, the food here is organic and pure vegetarian. Alcohol and smoking are prohibited inside the resort. Though it takes time for non-vegetarians like me to get accustomed to the food, given the environment and kind of routine we had to follow, I must say that the food complimented really well.
Once you are at Kairali, your day will start with 60 minutes followed by the massage. We had a detailed consultation with an Ayurvedic Practitioner, who assessed what Ayurvedic therapies and detox procedures best suit your body and condition. I was recommended Abhyangam on the first day.
Abhyangam helps is immune system and hence is a protector as well as a rejuvenator. It starts with where the head oil is used for the desired effect. This is followed by face, neck, and shoulder along with major joints. Each finger and toe are properly massaged and oiled. The navel too is filled with oil and then stomach is massaged in a circular direction. Its rhythmic motion helps to relieve joints and muscles from stiffness and helps in freeing body movements.
A potli is filled with herbs, ayurvedic oils, therapeutic dried leaves and is warmed up to massage the entire body for body aches, joints pain and stiffness. It increases blood circulation as well as helps in body flexibility and inflammation. The heated potli leads to opening of the skin pores. This results in each of the herbs in potli creating impact on the nervous system…
Apart from their ayurvedic message center they also have the gym, a playroom and a nice swimming pool to relax. They also have a small herb garden in the resort which is used for medicinal purposes.
We also visited their factory where the manufacture medicine and other ayurvedic products which can be bought from their centers across the world or can also be ordered online.
Last but not the least – if you want to eat local food, you can go to Palakkad town and visit Noor Jahan and can relish local Kerala food.
Away from the hustle bustle of city life, this is a break which you should definitely opt for. Not only it’s rejuvenating but with the right kind of guidance and the right food, this place detoxifies your body and rejuvenates each element that results in pain and stress.
