In last one year or so I have been very regular to The Lalit, New Delhi. It’s interesting that my experience of Baluchi was at The Lalit Chandigarh, not at The Lalit Delhi and I was blown away by the food at Baluchi. The Naan’ry which was paired with wine was the first ever in India.
Their Dal Baluchi is, in fact, the finest I have ever tasted. I was also there last year when Sula hosted their wine dinner. The evening started with Grand Cuvee Brut one of the nicest Indian sparkling which I tasted. Phirni paratha was spot on and it has always been. After chit chatting with fellow diners and sharing some light moments with Craig and Mr. Ravindra Kumar (corporate F&B head of The Lalit), we moved for sit down dinner.
The Fratelli wine dinner at Baluchi was a perfect example of a perfect wine dinner. This place offers the best Indian restaurant and one of the finest Indian wine. I must add here that Merlot and Sette were perfectly paired with Dal Baluchi and the mutton seekh and the fish tikka is must have when you are at Baluchi. Pairing was absolutely perfect and so was the story of Craig. Well executed and perfectly synchronized.
For me the highlight was Dal Baluchi, simply the best; the melt in mouth mutton rogan josh and fish tikka. Santo was the perfect dessert wine to finish the meal. I simply loved it. Fratelli Satte was the perfect choice for the main course and so was the Caliterra Chardonnay with starters. Kudos to Team Fratelli and Team Lalit for such flawless execution.
It was for sure one of those nights where not only food was excellent but also the company of people from the wine industry. A great evening which was elevated by the efficient service of team Baluchi
