I was invited by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority to experience the magnificent Sharjah Light Festival. Since I was visiting for the first time, flying Air Arabia which is the first and largest Low Cost Carrier in the Middle East and North Africa was the obvious choice.
The web check in was smooth as the site is easy to navigate. My boarding pass was issued at departure zone C of the Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport (CSIA) at Mumbai without any hitch by the courteous and efficient staff.
While boarding, the passengers who would be seated from rows 16-28 were asked to board first. This was extremely convenient as often I have had to squeeze my way in to get to my seat amidst passengers entering and going all the way down the aisle to get to their seat.
A big thumbs up to Air Arabia for its fantastic connectivity to Sharjah from major Indian cities. Instead of flying from just Mumbai or Delhi, passengers can fly from Ahmedabad, Nagpur, Trivandrum, Bengaluru, Chennai, Coimbatore, Goa, Hyderabad, Jaipur, Kochi and Kozhikode.
I even found my Mumbai- Sharjah- Mumbai flight timings suitable. Since I reached in the morning, I had the entire day for Sharjah sightseeing. The flight landed 10 minutes before schedule. Even my return flight which reached Mumbai at 4.15 am gave me ample time to get back to work after a comfortable nap during the flight.
A really commendable plus point is Air Arabia’s baggage allowance which is 30 kgs for check in and 10 kgs for cabin baggage.
So I happily shopped to my heart’s content without having to worry about paying for excess baggage. Looking out of the window, the twinkling lights of the runway as we took off and of Mumbai below were a prelude to Sharjah, the city of lights and venue for the 7th edition of the Sharjah Light Festival. The same twinkling lights welcomed me back to Mumbai reminding me of Sharjah and its generous hospitality and unique sightseeing options.
