When I received invite for the International BBQ Festival at The Leela Ambience, I was super excited. I know Executive Chef Rohit Tokhi and his love for European cuisine; hence it was very obvious that this is going to be a festival for meat lovers.
On Saturday afternoon I decided to visit the hotel to satiate my curiosity for the festival and I was really forward to a “meaty” afternoon.
We started with grilled pomfret and mans ke sule from indian section. The pompfret was well grilled and was very soft. My son finished one and was craving for more. He had another one along with us. We also had soya starter and paneer and both were great. From the western section I tried lamb chops and pork spare ribs. The pork spare ribs with BBQ sauce was perhaps the best of the lot, but when I ate pork belly skewers from the Asian section, I felt it was better.
Roasted duck was the star dish of the day. Though my wife loved each of the dish that she had, her favourites were roasted duck and pomfret.
The burger sliders with pulled pork and chicken was Chef Rohit’s personal favourite and I enjoyed them equally. I also loved the sausages as the quality was great. My son gorged on them too!
After a meaty affair, we enjoyed custard caramel and churros.
