Last night at Pan Asian, Saket, I realised that I am here after more than a year and a half. The occasion was the preview of Chinese new year (started on 25th January), what’s going to be on their summer menu, new initiatives taken at the restaurant and a lot more. Fresh ingredients, excellent preparations and some mouth-watering dishes were the highlights of the last night dinner. I have now known Chef Vaibhav for more than couple of years now. I have been following his work since Guppy days and trust me when it comes to Japanese, he is definitely one of the finest chef around. He excels not just in Japanese but in pan Asian too. Last week, we were at Pan Asian for dinner where we were introduced to the specially curated menu for Chinese New Year.
Chef Vaibhav also served us some of his dishes that will be part of his new summer menu. The salads and soups were more interesting, but the Chinese main course was equally delicious. It was interesting to see new initiatives including healthy food options that Chef is working on. E.g: New dimsum business lunch where the presentation was absolutely eye catching and offcource the food, not just tasted great, but was also light on palate.
To start with, the tuna with sesame and wasabi mayo, quinoa with edamame (veg) were great salads. The interpretation of ceviche with salmon in orange syrup with orange zest gave it tangy and sour taste and was outstanding and so was the humble pumpkin. The highlight, was the double grilled sticky rice stuffed chicken that was outstanding. The glaze on the skin was simply mesmerising. To sum it up, you can’t miss the Chinese New Year special menu!
