, maneesh srivastva food and lifestyle photographer, urbanescapades.inMy first experience of Baluchi was at The Lalit, Chandigarh when I was there to spend my birthday. I was simply bowled over by the food they served. I have been to Lalit New Delhi couple of times and even at Baluchi for a Sula Wine Dinner. But, after enjoying feast at Chandigarh, I was very keen to have a full experience of Baluchi New Delhi.

This is, one of the most authentic Indian restaurant in Delhi that serves scrumptious north Indian cuisine. I don’t really share my delights of dal at Bukhara or family Naan. I find dal Baluchi is way better than dal Bukhara.

The setup, the atmosphere at the Baluchi will surely take you to a decade back. We hardly come across such spacious restaurant in Delhi. They have 2 PDRs where you can have a private dinner with your family or build business connection

In most of the Indian fine dine places, we do not have wine pairing. Here at Baluchi you will enjoy wine pairing with almost all dishes. The pairing has been done by their corporate sommelier Charles Donnadieu.

Their trademark “Naan” ery” – is an assortment of breads (Bakarkhani Bread, Gilafi Kulcha and much more) that also gets paired with wine which is more than a meal if you are not in mood to have a heavy meal.

The galoutii kebabs can beat any kebab in the city. You also wouldn’t want to miss the Gilafi chicken seekh and mutton chapli. We asked for the second helping of mutton chapli J

Panchphoran mahi tikka and the jinga (prawns were huge) will blow you away. Leave yourself in the safe hand of Chef S.S. Tyagi and trust me you will not regret. His recommendations, makes the experience and the meal at Baluchi, truly memorable!

Either you can go for wine pairing that they have recommended or else pick your choice – I will recommend sparkling or a medium body red wine that complements each dish.

If you don’t have a big appetite, I will recommend their small naans (bread) paired with wine and you will still relish your meal Their Dal Baluchi is another star dish of the restaurant, which you must try.  You can finish your meal with mouth-watering Paan kulfi. I never had a better paan kulfi anywhere else. The real flavour of pan truly is delightful!

It was certainly one of the best meal I had in 2016. Looking forward to a scrumptious meal again in 2017 J
