Over the last one year, Eros Nehru Place has hosted some of the best food promotions, and they continue to host the same and exceed expectations each time.
The latest one was Jash-e-Fateh that simply means celebration after victory. And if we go buy history, celebrations aren’t complete without great food and drinks.
Jashn-e-fateh is dedicated to Hari Singh Nalwa, commander-in-chief under Maharaja Ranjit Singh. It is believed that he had taken Sikh empire to greater heights.
Some of the highlights of the food promotion was meat cooked in earthern pot with simple spices. Not only did it enhance the flavour of the meat, but also it was one of the best mutton curry I have eaten in recent times. Katwa gosht as they called it was from Haripur (Chaach valley) and the surprise element was the leavened bread that was broken into pieces and then cooked with the curry for some time. Absolutely divine.
Next in the line was the mutton kebab which was marinated with salt and then grilled on the sigri. Murg Sajji (whole chicken marinated and then cooked on sigri) and Gost chaap( whole baby lamb rack) were from naman mandi peshwar which is famous for its street food.
Kalahrhi is the local Himalayan cheese originated from udhampur and made of cow or goat milk. It is sticky and is sticky. Kulcha was made out of the local cheese, which was sautéed on hot griddle. Very unique and interesting too!
And to finish this lovely meal we had sevaiyan, chukandar ka halwala and sohan halwa. This food festival and its taste is still lingering in my palette and mind.
