This is what you should remember when you visit Ek Bar on Sunday for the Brunch. Unlike other Brunches, don’t expect those huge spread. However what steals your heart is the carefully selected dishes from across the country and a midas touch by Magician Sujan Sarkar. You can read my review of Ek Bar here.
As I shared in my previous post, Ek Bar is truly the first Indian bar that has some of the best cocktails, cleverly crafted and some handpicked food from across the country.
I have known Sujan Sarkar for over two years. It’s a treat to watch him create magic and you would notice his passion for food, capturing and improvising minutest of details in cooking and his flair for perfection. All of this and his multi-faceted talent that he possesses make him truly one of the finest chefs in India.
Couple of weeks back we were invited to Ek Bar to experience their first ever Weekend brunch. Ek Bar would be amongst, first bars in India where Brunch is being served. I would personally rate them as one the finest in Delhi/NCR. This place is where you would love to sit, relax, enjoy your food with some outstanding cocktails. You will love to relax with like-minded people and share your food, share stories and opinions in a warm, relaxed and unrushed atmosphere. For their Weekend brunch, they have specially created some new cocktails. The cocktails are incredibly delicious and crafted with love.
Start with the Ambassador punch, cocktail made from vodka. It has gondhoraj lemon (a famous Bengali lemon), and sugarcane, certainly one of the most refreshing cocktail with the perfect amount of citrus and sweet flavour. Each cocktail is hand-crafted from only the freshest and finest of ingredients as well as liquor!
Pumpkin Mulligatwani is an english soup inspired from Tamil name that has madras curry powder. It is served with garlic sour cream and walnut taftan(Persian bread), a perfect soup with indian and Persian touch. This soup is warming and wholesome.
Bombay pomfret is Sujan’s take on bhape fish (famous Bengali steamed fish) and patrani machi(parsi cuisine) has pomfret wrapped in banana leaf marinated with green spices and cooked on charcoal. Just squash some drop of lime and vola is a classic dish. A delicious dish from Parsi cuisine, that is not just famous, but mouth-watering too.
Chicken goli kebab served on the bed of red bell pepper makhni, Thalassery Chicken Biryani( perhaps one of the rare biryani which is said to invented in india), Pandi curry ( speciality of Coorg region) and English breakfast plate which has appam, poached egg, beans( cooked with indian spices), crispy bacon, prawn sausage are some of the dishes which you can’t miss. Every dish has been cleverly crafted with Indian twist but the flavour is intact. Each dish is iincredibly fresh and unique and is packed with flavour. You will be able to make out that Sujan Sarkar makes everything with pure passion and love!
Head to Ek Bar for relaxed Weekend brunch where you will not only relish some extremely well made cocktails but outstanding food with an Indian touch. This is the first restaurant (correct me if I am wrong) that has installed Air purifier. What more would you ask for as this place cleans and rids the air of contaminants!
