I have been wanting to visit Nagpur since a long time and got to do so as part of the media delegation for the annually held Global Panorama Showcase (GPS) 2016 Nagpur. This year was its 4th edition and there were 115 exhibitors from all over the globe. The aim of GPS is to educate and empower the travel fraternity of tier II and tier III cities and seeing the phenomenal turnout at the event, it has succeeded this year as well. GPS on the move is the plan for 2016 as the event is travelling to the cities of Coimbatore, Kolkata, Chandigarh and Ahmadabad.

The seeds of this event were sown when Harmandeep and Rishiraj Singh Anand, Co- Founders of GPS attended 300 trade exhibitions all over the world and met around 18,000 people. These meetings and the knowledge acquired therein have helped to make GPS a must visit travel and tourism interaction which taps and sources the potential of tier II and tier III cities. The event also saw the global launch of a premium cruise liner of Dream Cruises. Volunteer tourism was encouraged and 8 NGO’s were felicitated. 10 lacs were donated to them on the first day itself.

As a prelude to GPS, I got to visit Tuli Suites at Sakoli which is owned by MTDC and operated by Tuli Hospitality. The property comprises of 10 cottages which are spacious, classily done up and surrounded by rocks which are a combination of limestone and sandstone giving Tuli Suites a majestic look. For large families and groups, there are two luxurious dormitories. While I dined at The Nest which is the multi cuisine restaurant, open air barbeque amidst nature is also arranged. In house recreational facilities include a pool table, badminton and carom. Table tennis, a children’s play area, mini football and a swimming pool are in the pipeline.

Tuli Suites SakoliOne can sit in the machan or watch tower for breathtaking views or enjoy an open air movie screening in the evening. Banquets can be luxuriously organized indoors or if you prefer the outdoors then on the sprawling party lawn. Dharmendra Sharma is Tuli Suites resident naturalist with three decades of experience in wildlife. In the morning I went for a trek to the Tribal Temple, Hanuman Temple and Shiva Temple where as I trekked, I got to view the sunrise as I breathed in fresh and non polluted air.  Dharmendra added bird watching and identification as there are 97 species of birds in and around the property. I even got to see a wild hare dart across. Another activity which can be arranged on request is fishing.

13 kms from Tuli Suites is the Navegaon-Nagzira Tiger Reserve which is spread across 636 sq. kms. The property arranges for morning and evening jungle safaris and the sightings include tigers, leopards, wild dogs, nilgai, bison, peacocks and spotted deer. A drive to the picturesque Botadho where Dho means dam in Marathi can also be included during your stay at Tuli Suites. Botadho is the biggest dam in Gondia District. One can also drive to the Norgyeling Tibetan Monastery and Tibetan Settlement. Another excursion can be the trek to the Pratapgarh Shiva Temple which is on a hillock.
