The Full Story
Recently at one of the event at Chi Ni I met with Vir Sanghvi and we were discussing about the popularity of Asian food in India and in particular about Chinese cuisine. Post that he wrote an article on Chinese food, its origin and how most of the Chinese restaurant worldwide are not really run by Chinese, but other Asian people. You can read the full story here.
It was good eye opener to know how Chinese cuisine has evolved worldwide and specially in India.
Mamagoto has been around for more than 6 years now and serves comfort pan Asian food in a relaxed and casual setup. It’s been known for its quirky pan Asian cuisine and now they have seasonal menu, keeping in mind their philosophy of Food, Fun, Taste and Innovation.
With this season, they have taken the meal in a bowl concept and have come up with Mama Bowls. Katsu don is a famous Japanese meal, and it is more than sufficient for one person. Panko( kind of crumbled bread used in japan) crusted fried chicken was put on the top of rice and dressing was mirin, sake and other condiments. Use of mirin gives a sweet taste to the dish. I enjoyed the dish. You can also order a ramen bowl which has option of tofu or chicken. It is spicy and had blanched spinach minced vegetable – a meal in itself. If you like dumplings then I would suggest, trying veg with spinach and sesame oil and the one with shrimps.
Mamagoto have also introduced three new cocktails and each one of them is served with grilled vegetables that I thoroughly enjoyed! The basil salted Mary and rum diaries are highly recommended.
Mamagoto serves good food, has quick service, good staff and decent portion of food (you can easily share) and at pocket friendly prices. This place is always busy and crowded.
