I love gadgets and love experimenting with them. I am a technology fanatic. I love reviewing them and understanding what new technology, apps that have been used that will cater to work related functions and entertainment. With expansion of computer technologies into our everyday life, gadgets now play a significant role in our daily routines. We require gadgets at work, home, and during leisure time. My interests range from smartphones, home appliances and every time I am awed by the range of functionalities and changes!
A smartphone, is more intelligent, and have long evolved from the basic functions of a mobile phone. Smartphones are aware of your current location, social networks, food preferences and habits, analyse information to give inputs and suggestions from time to time. To top it all they also process games with higher resolution and graphics. That’s also one of the reason that you will find me on my gadget most of the time. With lot of additional features that smartphones caters to, the megapixel of a camera, in a smartphone, still continue to be one of the deciding factors of buying a smartphone. With high-quality sensors, powerful shooting modes and multitude of camera settings, smartphones have become obvious choice. We look for bright and sharp photos in both bright and low-light conditions. This is also one of the main reasons that most of the phone manufacturers are coming with smart phones with a good camera.
Recently we received the new Asus zenfone 2 laser from ASUS for review. This is under 10,000 INR category phone and comes with decent hardware configuration.
We got ZE550KL which is one of the variant of the Zenfone 2 laser, with 5.5-inch 720P screen with a Qualcomm Snapdragon 410SoC and 2 GB RAM.
It’s been more than 2 weeks now and I have been using this phone. I am yet not comfortable with volume button placed at the back. I like the volume button in more traditional way, where it is placed on the right side of the phone. Your view might be different and you might like it.
Now let’s talk about the camera and its performance. In last two weeks I have clicked more than 200 pictures from this phone camera during day and night, with light and without light.
Here are some of the pictures which I clicked during night at a restaurant where I went for review. Being a food blogger I focus a lot on my food pictures and being an avid DSLR user I always find phone camera’s pictures, pretty average. The DOF of the phone camera is poor and that’s why you don’t get good quality results.
These pictures I clicked during night and the light was very low. Asus zenfone 2 laser has a feature of enabling low light so that you can click good pictures, but as you can see even while using the low light feature these pictures are not of good quality.
I clicked these at murthal where light was pretty good and felt that these pictures are of average quality. One of the shot which was against light, the images were washed out and has lot of flair.
Apart from the camera quality I also found that sometime it takes time to open an app. Though it’s a new phone and with 2GB of ram it should be quick with no lag. Apps take longer to open and run. Transitions between screens take longer to redraw than we would like. I like the build and the design of the phone and found it good with the kind of price tag it has. But if you really want some good quality picture then you need to spend little more and can get that kind of phone. However with the kind of pricing it has – it is an average Android phone.
