As a child I was always fascinated by the train journey, love the feel that we are leaving trees behind. Sitting near window and looking at the trees and those electrical pillars leaving behind was something that always amazed me. Apart from these amazing experiences, I always look forward for the journey because of the food which my mom used to cook and was fun eating those while in the train.

That was the reason that we chose to travel via train instead of driving to Ludhiana. Boarding shatabdi express from Delhi and explaining my son about my childhood experience was absolutely a fun and was like travelling in the past.

Whenever I think about going out on weekend, I always feel that Delhi doesn’t offer a lot of options. For me the idea to spend weekend with your family is to unwind and get energized and refreshed.  I decided to spend my weekend with my family in one of the cities of Punjab. We chose Ludhiana and opted for Radisson Blu. I have been to Radisson Delhi couple of times and have always enjoyed their warm hospitality.

Radisson Blu, Ludhiana is owned by MBD group and this is close to one of the high end mall which is also owned by the same group.

Radisson Blu, Ludhiana is truly a global property. It has more than 80 rooms, two restaurants, a stylish bar and well equipped Gym and Spa and not to forget the biggest space for wedding in Ludhiana. Once we checked into the hotel, the fun began. Me and my son enjoyed Jacuzzi, played in the tub and had good time.

With beautiful and elegant rooms, glorious corridors, all captivating with beautiful paintings hanging on the walls, this unique hotel makes it ideal for a good break. Here you will discover a wonderful escape for a break where the whole family can unwind. Escape the daily grind and enjoy great hospitality, relaxing spas and fabulous food. Guests reach their rooms through ornately arched corridors and modern paintings. Each room is elegantly furnished, with a king-size bed, sheer curtains and blackout blinds, plush carpets and polished wood floors. Light-filled rooms flow seamlessly together for the ultimate in modern urban living. For ease of use, the fixtures can be turned on and off by a remote control against the drawer The fixtures are convenient but can also be dimmed to instantly alter the mood of the room. Each light can be used for a specific task or in conjunction to set the mood of the room and you can easily alter the tone of the room by using a dimmer on the main source of lighting. This gives you flexibility on those early mornings when the full light may be too bright. To provide a sense of ambiance and sensuality, various types of lighting are used throughout the guest bedroom and bathroom suite.

The story doesn’t end here. Sharing a quick snapshots on the restaurants of Radisson Blu.

Food (Café Delish – R.E.D. – Made in India- PEG )

Café Delish – This all day dinning café offers local cuisine( Punjabi, north indian) and international cuisine as well. Sunday brunch is exhaustive and you will also enjoy the famous “banta” that is part of the Sunday brunch.

Made In India – This speciality Indian restaurant serves amazing Punjabi, Mughlai and Awadhi cuisine. This is your place to have comfort food, after a hectic day at work. A colored resin and crystal bead curtain makes way for a private and secluded area with the ceiling adorned with devnagri script.

R.E.D.– This pan Asian restaurant which has look and feel of oriental serves amazing dishes from pan Asian countries. If you love Chinese, thai and Japanese then this is the perfect place to satisfy your pan Asian cravings. We had excellent lunch here and really enjoyed the different flavours of Asian cuisine.

PEG–As the name suggests this is the place where you would like to have couple of drinks before you move to any of the restaurant here for your dinner. It is modern and is centrally located for easy access to all. The blue color of light adds romance to ambience.

Impeccable restaurants, chic bar – each restaurant is decorated and has its own unique ambience as well as character. Chefs and servers are attentive, intuitive and believe in providing the best of experience every time.

The Amber room and The Paisley is an ideal venue for small and large corporate business meetings, seminars, conferences, and social functions or weddings.  Radisson Blu, Ludhiana has world class Spa Espace, with best of the available spa treatment to relax you and your body. Their Gym has international equipment and they have a well-trained trainer too to guide you.

Radisson Blu has a huge swimming pool where you can relax, and take your kids too. They have separate pool for kids.

It was well spent weekend and truly enjoyed the warm hospitality of Radisson Blu. If you plan a trip to Ludhiana, head to Radisson Blu to unwind yourself. You would definitely be pleased and content with the choice you made!

We didn’t get much of time to explore the city but still manage to go out and looked at the local market.

If you happen to be in Ludhiana then I suggest you must try some the local food joints there.

My recommendations – Baba chicken is famous for their yellow butter chicken, Keema Naan from Rosy and Basant  icecream for delicious icecream.

Ludhiana is the largest city of Punjab, north of New Delhi. Gurudwara Sri Dukhniwaran Sahib, Clock Tower, Gurudwara Shri Manji Sahib Alamgir, Lodhi Fort, Maharaja Ranjit Singh War Museum, Shri Krishna Mandir and Guru Nanak Dev Bhavan, Nehru Rose Gardeni are some of the places that you can visit in Ludhiana. Besides this, there are large and medium sized integrated knitwear factories, hosiery and woollen yarn mills. There are also firms manufacturing bicycles (Avon Bicycles, Hero Cycles Ltd, Eastman Industries Ltd), motorcycle parts, machine tools, sewing machines, generators, diesel engines, tires & tubes, and other consumer goods. Ludhiana City is also famous for cast iron industries & for other foundry material. Besides the amazing malls, there are many famous markets in Ludhiana like Chaura bazar, Gur mandi, Ghumar Mandi, car Bazaar, Meena Bazaar, cycle Market etc.
