It is also believed that Indians moved to Canada almost 110 years ago when it was part of British Empire.

Over the years, large number of Indians moved to Canada. Infact in last five years, this number has grown almost 500%. Some of the minsters in Canada Government are of Indian origin as well. As Canada was under British rule, its cuisine gets the inspiration from Britain and Scotland. French being their official language, the food has its obvious influence from France too. Tart and poutine are considered to be the national dish.

Christmas turkeyIn Delhi, Canadian high commission in association with Taj Palace Hotel organised Christmas celebrations keeping in mind the festive spirit! Kafe Fontana is celebrating Christmas Extravaganza where they are showcasing not just the delicacies of Canada but also conducting masterclass.

Chef Curtis Pintye who is head chef at Canada House along with Chef Amit Rana conducted master class for media folks where they cooked some dishes in the presence of media and bloggers. We had a lovely afternoon where chefs discussed some tips and tricks on cooking along with great conversation that kept us engaged.

Chef Amit Rana and Chef CurtisChef Curtis cooked duck breast with mashed sweet potato. His energy and excitement was infectious and the live cooking helped us learn the great way to cook duck breast. Chef Amit too conducted a live session on palak patta( spinach deep fried in batter) that was made crispier with addition of cornflour. This fun and interactive cooking session was followed by scrumptious lunch.
